Wedding Wednesday | Lexi G. | New Orleans

Lexi and Andrew got married at Newman Bandstand at Audubon Park in New Orleans. Their wedding and the beautiful details of the day was captured by Shipman Photography.

THE PROPOSAL:

How did you meet?

“Andrew and I met at a Halloween party hosted by my Mardi Gras society in Mobile, Alabama. He was sneaking candy corn from our buffet and when I showed up he pretended he hadn't been eating the candy all night and asked, "Is that candy corn?" The rest is history, except for the huge belly ache all the candy corn gave him, the things we do to flirt!!”

The Proposal

“Andrew basically dragged me up to the levee of the Mississippi River on a cold and slightly rainy night last December (12/7/2018) and while I protested to the weather he talked about our relationship and eventually got down on one knee! It wasn't until the next morning that it felt real, but that might have had to do with the blanket of snow Baton Rouge got that morning. We walked around our own Winter Wonderland and just enjoyed being engaged.”

WEDDING PREP:

Lexi and the ladies in her bridal party spent their day getting ready for the big day at an AirBnB in New Orleans, while Andrew and the guys got ready at the Residence Inn.

The ladies all had monogrammed over-sized button up shirts from Amazon, while Sandra Hastings from Changes Hair Studio did their hair and Tina with Verde Beauty Studio did their makeup using airbrush and topped it off with bold lips.

THE DETAILS:

What made you choose where you got married?

“We love spending time in Audubon park and had picked the location long before we were engaged for its beauty and tranquil, romantic feel.”

What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?

“All of the decorations were put together by me, the food truck was so Andrew and our cake topper with New Orleans street tiles was completely us!”

What did you choose to do as your favors?

“Bagged candy corn (see our meeting story) and Koozies”

Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?

“No, we did it all our own way!”

THE ATTIRE:

Lexi was stunning in her Oleg Cassini gown that she purchased from David’s Bridal. She finished off her look with a DIY veil and garter, jewelry from Heirloom and emerald green shoes from Rothys!

Speaking of emerald green, she incorporated the emerald green in her engagement ring into the beautiful bridesmaid dresses and other little touches such as her jewelry.

Andrew rented a Joseph Abboud suit from Men’s Wearhouse. He completed his polished look with cufflinks from Etsy and a green bowtie from thetiebar.com.

ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES:

Don't get so caught up in planning details that you forget to be a bride on your wedding morning. I stayed in a planning state of mind to avoid nerves, but I wish I could have set it aside and felt all of the wedding day emotions. Thankfully, when we had our first look I snapped into Bride mode!
