Wedding Wednesday | Ashley B. | A Houmas House Wedding

Ashley's Houmas House wedding was stunning, as was Ashley! Verde Beauty Studio was so excited that she choose to be #TeamVerde for her big day!

Before the " I DO"s :

How they met :

It all started with a swipe right. Kevin was on Tinder, trolling for the ladies, and Ashley had been convinced by her best friend, Alex (also a successful Tinder wedding), that this new app was a great way to get free dinner. Neither of them had anything written in their profiles, but something just felt right in the weird faces they proudly displayed in their photos.

From that first dinner, two things were very evident. 1. Kevin and Ashley shared so many similar interests - travel, cheese, technology and Pitch Perfect. 2. They each had an eyebrow-raising moment towards the other that night. Ashley was a little confused by the fact that Kevin was a handsome, successful, seemingly normal man in San Francisco who just so happened to be both single and have a passionate love for Taylor Swift (the music, not the girl) and Lululemon. Kevin was convinced Ashley excused herself in the middle of their first date for a leisurely and long trip to the bathroom (you can imagine what he thought she was doing; in reality, she was struggling with the button on the back of her jumpsuit).

Since that night in November 2014, they were hooked and inseparable (after Ashley's dog, Roméo, gave the stamp of approval, of course).

The Proposal :

Ashley had spent the weekend in Chicago at a close friend's bachelorette party. She flew home to find an eager Kevin jittering around their apartment. While she should have seen the signs - he was nicely dressed, eagerly helped her with her bags, and hovered around her like a butterfly - she was too exhausted from the weekend to notice anything suspicious.

Finally, Kevin told her he got her a present - a rarity for the couple who tends to focus more on experiences than gifts. Ashley saw a big box on the bed and opened it to find a personalized photo book Kevin had designed, which chronicled their last two years together.

From here, the story changes depending on who you ask. Ashley remembers turning to the last page and noticing Kevin get down on one knee at which point she blacked out and can't recall much. Kevin claims it took Ashley forever to go through the book, whose last page had a photo of her dog, Roméo, next to the ring with the question "Will the two of you say yes?" He also claims Ashley did not respond initially, and he had to ask again.

The ring is a late 1800s vintage piece Ashley had spotted eight months earlier and thought was gone forever. Little did she know Kevin bought it on the spot that day and had been hiding it ever since.

Wedding Day Details :

What made you choose where you got married? :

"Kevin and I live in San Francisco, but wanted a wedding that would provide for a unique experience and fun trip for guests coming from all over the globe. I am originally from Louisiana, which led us there."

What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you? :

"One of our dogs was ring bearer with Kevin's nephew. We also used Taylor Swift 'Shake It Off' as our recessional song and 'Kiss the Girl' as our first dance. We are T-Swift and Disney fans :)"

What did you choose to do as your favors? :

"We did cups and custom doo rags, complete with a hand drawn design of the plantation and our dogs on the lawn (we have pictures!)"

Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families? :

"We did a traditional second line with hand made umbrellas that featured an Eiffel Tower on mine (I lived in France for seven years) and a cheesehead on Kevin's (he is from Wisconsin). The macaroons on the dessert bar were a nod to the French connection as well, and we both spoke French in our vows (well, Kevin tried)."

Did you rock a #hashtag? :

"Heck yeah! #romeogetsadaddy (Roméo was my dog before meeting Kevin)"

From the Bride :

What is one thing you wish you would have known pre-wedding? :

"The day will feel so surreal and fly by"

Words of Advice for future brides? :
