A beautiful backyard wedding | Brooke | Baton Rouge

Plenty of things had to change after 2020 but that didn’t stop this sweet couple from tying the knot at a family home in Baton Rouge. PHOTOGRAPHER shared some adorable images of these sweethearts and you KNOW we are suckers for dogs at weddings!

Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?

Not only was the location totally "us," but Nick's dad and stepmother got married in the same spot 20 years earlier. They joke that our wedding was almost as fun as theirs.

COVID limited our options and we wanted a casual, backyard style wedding. Nick's aunt and uncle graciously offered their eclectic home for the wedding and reception.

What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?
My dog was a part of our wedding, and I'm so glad... she recently passed at nearly 12. We also were proud to have done pretty much everything on our own. Also, my dad's best friend married us. That was very special because my dad passed in Jan 2020.

How did you meet?

Nick and I met working at Raising Cane's back in 2013. I was his boss!

The Proposal

We rented a cabin in N. Alabama for Memorial Day weekend in 2020. On the last day, we set up my camera and tripod to take some cute pictures of us and our dogs. When I walked up to set the timer, I came back and Nick was on one knee. There's a photo capturing the moment! He did good :)

Advice for future brides?

Don't stress about little things. Keep it simple. Wear comfortable shoes. Eat the food. Savor every moment because it's over before you know it.
