How did you meet?

We met at work when the desk next to mine was available and Forrest had just joined my team. We became friends really fast. Soon after I ended up getting moved to a different team and we lost touch for about a year or so. Until one day a familiar face found my new desk and started to come visit me and it was like no time had passed. It wasn't long after that we went on our first date and the rest is history

The Proposal

We went on a trip to the Grand Canyon. As we were walking along one of the trails he pulled me off the path and said it was a good spot for a photo. I pulled off my bag to grab the tripod I brought to start setting it up. As I was trying to get the tripod situated I turned around to get something out of my bag and he was already down on one knee with the ring in his hand. I was in complete shock at what I was seeing. We will forever remember that spot along the Grand canyon and its beauty for more reasons than one.

What is one thing you wish you would have known pre-wedding?

The cost of dress fitting was something I never heard other brides talk about and it adds quite a bit to the dress budget. And book your vendors early to avoid stressing when they get booked up!

What made you choose where you got married?

We live in TX but the bride is from Louisiana. It was a unique setting for our Texas friends and family and Houmas was a beautiful and perfect choice for us. It was the only venue we looked at.

What were your special details or parts of the wedding that were specific to you?

We loved having a private dining moment just the two of us in the Houmas house dining room before joining our guests at the reception. We also enjoyed a final dance as a married couple while our guests were lining up outside for the sparkler sendoff

What did you choose to do as your favors?

Louisiana goodies like Zapps chips, tobassco, cafe du monde coffee, and cigars, and mini bottles of champagne and whiskey

Did you incorporate any wedding traditions from you or your partners families?

We toasted with the silver goblets the brides parents used at their wedding

Words of Advice for future brides?

On the day of slow down, take it all in and enjoy the day! And a wedding coordinator is a life saver!
